Natural Resource Abundance, Renewable Energy, and Ecological Footprint Linkage in MENA Countries
نویسندگان
چکیده
Apart from being vulnerable to the menace created by climate change, MENA countries consume more of non-renewable energy despite their resource endowments and great renewable potentials. Energy consumption, natural exploration urbanization may add environmental degradation since ecological distortions emanate human activities. This study investigates effects aforementioned variables on footprint in countries. The findings confirm Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis further reveal negative impact economic growth environment. Renewable reduce footprint. Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS) Dynamic (DOLS) were applied obtain country-specific results. Further suggest a feedback causality between urbanization, Policy directions based are extensively discussed.

متن کاملRenewable Energy Consumption, Economic Growth and Co2 Emissions: Evidence from Selected Mena Countries
This paper uses panel cointegration techniques to examine the causal relationship between renewable energy consumption, economic growth and CO2 emissions for a group of 12 MENA countries covering the annual period 1975-2008. The Granger-causality results indicate that there is no causal relationship between these variables in short run except a unidirectional causality running from renewable en...

Energy as one of the factors of production along with labor and capital has an important role in development and social welfare. Due to the pollution of non-renewable resources and its negative impact on welfare, the use of renewable resources can improve social welfare by eliminating pollutants. In this study, the effect of renewable and non-renewable energy consumption on social welfare of de...
متن کاملRelationship between Ecological Footprint and Economic Growth in D8 Countries: Testing the Kuznets Environmental Hypothesis Using PSTR Model
This study examines the Kuznets environmental curve among D8 countries in the period 1961–2016. The Kuznets environmental curve shows the reversed U-shaped relationship between economic growth and environmental degradation. In this paper, two methods of time series estimation and smooth panel transition estimation were used to test the hypothesis of this relationship. Also, the ecological footp...
